Advisory Council Member

Location: San Antonio, TX

Position Type: Part-Time (~2 hours/month), in-person orremote (meetings are in-person and have Skype dial in)

Housing A Thousand is a small unincorporated nonprofit association dedicated to funding and placing affordable housing/shelter units in the San Antonio area, emphasizing low barriers and low cost. We are seeking Advisory Council Members to join our team. Advisory Council members attend monthly meetings focused on providing ideas to Housing A Thousand to make us more effective in our mission. This position is great for people who are passionate about the mission but aren't able to commit beyond monthly meetings.

Key Obligations:
• Attend monthly advisory council meetings in person or on Skype.

Qualifications:
• No degree or experience required.
• Experience in housing development, construction, property management, social services, budgeting is desired.
• Commitment to the organization's mission.

Project Manager

Location: San Antonio, TX

Position Type: Part-Time (~1-4 hours/week), Hybrid (weekly meetings are remote, monthly are in-person or dial-in Skype dial in)

Job Description
Housing A Thousand is a small unincorporated nonprofit association dedicated to funding and placing affordable housing/shelter units in the San Antonio area, emphasizing low barriers and low cost. We are seeking multiple Project Managers to join our leadership team. This is a part-time unpaid and flexible position, great for anyone who wants to have an outsized impact on driving unsheltered homelessness to functional zero in the San Antonio area.

Key Obligations:
• Attend monthly advisory council meetings in person or on Skype.
• Attend weekly calls with CEO, CFO, and Director of Marketing and Fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and execute one housing/shelter development project.
• Guide the transition from housing/shelter development to property management.
• Execute the organization's strategic plan in coordination with other project managers.
• Work under the CFO to develop and manage your project's budget.
• Coordinate with general counsel to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
• No degree required.
• Managerial experience preferred.
• Experience in housing development, construction, or property management is preferred.
• Commitment to the organization's mission.
• Strong organizational skills.

Director of Marketing and Fundraising

Location: San Antonio, TX

Position Type: Part-Time (~4 hours/week), Hybrid/remote (weekly meetings are virtual, monthly are in-person or dial-in Skype dial in)

We are seeking a Director of Marketing and Fundraising to join our leadership team. This is a part-time unpaid and flexible position, great for anyone who wants to have an outsized impact on driving unsheltered homelessness to functional zero in the San Antonio area.

Key Obligations:
• Attend monthly advisory council meetings in person or on Skype.
• Attend weekly calls with CEO, CFO, and COO.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and public awareness.
• Create and manage digital and print marketing materials, including newsletters, social media, and website content.
• Coordinate public relations efforts, including press releases and media outreach.
• Develop and implement fundraising plans to achieve financial targets.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.
• Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns, including online crowdfunding and annual giving.
• Manage donor communications, ensuring timely acknowledgment and reporting.
• Develop and maintain a donor database to track contributions and engagement.
• Create and implement strategies for donor retention and growth.
• Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
• Write and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
• Manage grant reporting and maintain relationships with grantors.
• Maintain and enhance the organization’s brand identity and ensure consistency across all communication channels.
• Monitor and analyze marketing and fundraising metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to align marketing and fundraising efforts with organizational goals.

Qualifications:
• No degree required; bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in marketing, fundraising, or communications, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
• Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in digital marketing tools and social media platforms.
• Creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to work independently.
• Commitment to the organization’s mission.

Webmaster

Location: San Antonio, TX

Position Type: Part-Time (~1-4 hours/week), in person or remote (monthly meetings are in-person or Skype dial in)

Job Description
Housing A Thousand is a small unincorporated nonprofit association dedicated to funding and placing affordable housing/shelter units in the San Antonio area, emphasizing low barriers and low cost. We are seeking a webmaster to join our team. This is a part-time unpaid and flexible position that would be great as a portfolio for an individual new to the web development field.

Key Obligations:
• Attend monthly advisory council meetings in person or on Skype.
• Add and remove DNS records within Cloudflare web hosting when necessary.
• Maintain the static website, working with GitHub HTML and CSS files which automatically post to a Cloudflare Pages website when modified.

Key Responsibilities:
• Enhance the website over time, adding logos, images, and other important elements.
• Add information to the website as things change.
• Document changes rigorously in GitHub, use branches and merge changes to main when appropriate.

Qualifications:
• No degree required.
• Front-end web development experience or education required.
• Commitment to the organization's mission.
• Strong organizational skills.
